A-MAZ-ING TOUR / GREAT VALUE / HIGHLY KNOWLEDGEABLE GUIDE
We went on the Full Day to Newgrange and Tara Hills.
Our pickup was right on schedule
I am disabled and Martin (our tour guide for the day) was so helpful and supportive in getting on and off the small bus which carried 12 people.
Martin was really enthusiastic highly knowledgeable and talked about some of the attractions we passed on our drive out of Dublin over a microphone so all could hear him.
When we got to the motorway he said that he wouldnt speak over the microphone but if anyone wanted to ask any questions he would be happy to answer them - this was due to the tour being quite an early start after a night on the Guinness!!
First stop - Newgrange
UN-BE-LEAVE-ABLE and BREATHTAKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a lot of time at Newgrange - Martin organised all of our tickets into the passage tomb and we had ample time to have a coffee and read some of the information on the walls about the area etc.
We then set off on another bus for a short drive from the visitors centre to the passage tomb. We were then divided into two groups (identified by coloured sticker on our tickets) - we were in the first group.
Inside was mind blowing - I wont spoil it here!!!!!
Afterwards (approx 10-15mins) we had ample time to walk around the passage tomb and take lots of photos before getting the bus back to he visitor centre
We then had ample time to walk through the visitor centres main exhibit which was really interesting - I would recommend visitng the exhibit after your visit to the tombs as it helps digest the information given by the very knowledgeable Newgrange Guide.
Back on the bus - time to relax or ask questions to Martin
Our next stop was Monasterbrice (unsure of spelling) and this time Martin was our expert guide. He explained all about the High Kings Crosses and what Monasterbrice was used for in its day. Ample time to look around
Back on the bus and as we were ahead of schedule (without being rushed) we had a quick photo stop at Slaine Castle which is not stated on the itinerary. Martin explained what Slaine Castle was used for, who owns it know and other really interesting information.
On route we passed the Battle of the Boyne where Martin again gave an insight on what happened and the reason for the battle.
We arrived at the Hills of Tara and Martin explained that he would be giving a short walking tour which was optional - we decided to take his offer up and were really pleased to do so.
Martin explained what the Hill of Tara was used for and told us of the "magic" of the hills as well.
Plenty of time to walk around - very muddy - and take photos.
Back on the bus again to head back to Dublin.
So very impressed with the bus which was really clean and comfortable, Martins knowledge, passion and friendliness - service impeccable!
We would definitely go on another tour with Day Tours Unplugged without hesitation!!!
BRILL- I - ANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
