I believe that Professor Sabel's book is a must read for anyone who has suffered vision loss, either sudden or a gradually encroaching version, and has looked for solutions beyond those which tackle the problem by treating only the eyes themselves, either medicinally and/or surgically. The clarity of the explanation of the neuroscience aspect and the importance of the brain's function in creating vision leads to an understanding of the therapy which establishes alternative networks. These incorporate active units from those areas of the visual field with reduced or impaired vision but not total vision loss.I see Professor Sabel's therapy as a vital and far reaching development in the science of restoring low vision.
