the website gives the impression of a proper rental business with office etc, but ... when I rent a car or campervan maybe i have too high expectations, but I expect: - to pay a potential deposit by card in the office - to be explained the various insurance options then and make a decision - maybe to get a useful reminder the week before - a fair openness when it becomes clear that a campervan is not fit for purpose for the intended purpose - and a fair 'middle of the road' solution when a problem arises all those expectations where disappointed here. I rented the camper van many months ago stating we want to do a trip with 3 adults and 2 children and I asked if the campervan is up for the purpose and he confirmed this to me without any word of warning or context. apart from payment reminders I did not get any reminder in the weeks before just to get a call on friday (the day before the scheduled take over) if I could come to a parking lot with 1500 Euro in cash for deposit in two hours as he cannot handle card payments) I found it dodgy and it is quite hard to get that much cash on short notice and when I arrived there it is literally just a parking lot without office or anything. Despite me asking him before he was actually was surprised we planned to come with 5 people (I later understood why he was surprised) and needed to collect an additional seat you had to install manually every time you move the camper van. As there is no office he had to drive home and come back with that seat. But whoever can tell me how you sleep in that campervan with 5 people for one week must be very flexible. We ended sleeping two in a tent as the lower bed has about 30 cm headroom (so if you raise your head you bump into a cupboard), When I wanted to choose an insurance option he told me I would have had to do it before and now it is to late (not office, no internet) at the end the chairs provided had sharp ends and made two small marks where the paint got removed) but no structural damage (See picture) . He therefore thought it s fair to retain the 1500 Euros deposit. When you normally rent a car it has about 10 of those scratches and they are just marked in the check in report. If the company every time retained 1500 Euros they would be very reach (and customers very unhappy). He said I would be free to instruct an obusman to assess the damage, but who wants to jump to such loops in his holiday in another country. Everyone can see from the attached picture that this is excessive and no one would spend that money for a scratch on his own vehicle (and I always believe you should treat others somehow close to how you would treat yourself) So don't go there if you expect a standard business with office, card payments, insurance options on check in and fair compromise if a small problem arises. I also believe there is no additional cleaning he just passes the van from one client to the next if half way acceptable (we for example decided not to use the dirty cutlery and took our own). I had a really good experience just around the corner with a proper rental company last year and will obviously go back there. Just went here because I wanted to try automatic gearing, but that clearly was a mistake. More a private hire but even worse as I am sure a reasonable private individual will not charge 1500 Euros for a small scratch. Worst experience with any business I had for a while.
