Recently read a journalist article about the airlines present financial difficulties. The airline management needs to spend less time blameing Boeing and get their own house in order. While free bag check and credit for canceled flights are great perks , other policies are archaic and down right anti common sense. Open seating makes no sense financially or to the well being of staff and customers. I would swear that half of each flight is wheel chair boarders who sprint to baggage claim when the plane lands. The next quarter of passengers loaded has one person paying for early boarding and trying to save seats for the rest of the family ending up with passengers and staff aggravated. The last quarter to board are normal people like me, who always end up in the rear of the plane despite the fact I paid for early boarding. I mostly fly SW and American and I believe it takes SW twice the time to board than American because of all the nonsense going on. Time is money. My second issue is the need of adequate and properly trained airport staff , particularly at transfer hubs. This is an important area as SW uses hubs a great deal. My experiences at a major hub in the Northeast could have been better. Airplane staff have always been great. PLEASE GO TO ASSIGNED SEATING
